SCX Success Creates More Jobs In Sheffield

16th March 2012

The SCX Group is pleased to announce that it is continuing to grow at a dramatic rate and that this has led to the creation of at least 10 new jobs, with additional new roles expected to be created over the next few months.

Based at the company’s Sheffield head office on Roman Ridge Road, the new positions will cover a variety of roles including nuclear, project delivery, crane engineers and customer service.

It is a combination of recent contract wins and increasing volumes of repeat business that has resulted in the creation of the new jobs, following on from significant growth last year.

This growth saw the creation of two new companies out of Street CraneXpress, and the acquisition of an 81,800 sq ft building for use as an additional assembly and test facility, along with head office expansion into enlarged premises.Workshop office expansion

SCX Special Projects is seeing rapid expansion in the volume of both new work and repeat business from the nuclear industry and as a result has found itself having to undergo this additional round of recruitment. In addition to this, the ongoing growth within the specialist handling equipment side of the business from clients in other industries, will ensure a healthy order book for the business going forward. SCX is therefore in the process of building new offices into its workshop on Roman Ridge Road, to increase the size of its technical department.

Street CraneXpress is also seeing unprecedented growth. The company’s customer service and sales teams have already outgrown their larger premises, which were occupied only last year. These premises will therefore be expanded further, creating more space and allowing the company to recruit more customer service team members, in order to handle the increase in work.

The SCX Group also has plans to carry out a full refurbishment of its recently acquired Assembly and Test facility at Barrow Road, a short walk from the head office, along with an upgrade of the primary fabrication works at its headquarters.

Managing Director, Simon Eastwood said: “I am pleased to report that as a group we are continuing to buck the economic trend and expand at a considerable rate. These are exciting times and this is a credit to all of our employees for their continued hard work and dedication.”
