Great Yorkshire Run 2014

29th September 2014

On 28 September 2014, twenty employees from the SCX Group ran The Great Yorkshire Run (10k) in Sheffield to raise money for MacMillan Cancer Support. The team managed to smash their £1500 target by several hundred pounds to raise over £1,800 - thank you so much to everyone who donated.

Team SCX Great Yorkshire RunThere was a certain element of competitiveness amongst the team, with a number of team members vying for the title of SCX's fastest runner. In the end it was a rather smug Managing Director Simon Eastwood, with a strategy of pacing himself that won out on the day, overtaking more than six members of Team SCX in the last 2.5k to come in first with a time of 47:21. Simon also very generously offered to make an additional charity donation for every team member that could beat Street CraneXpress Director Ray Fletcher, which as it turned out, was nearly every other member of the team!

A special mention goes to Project Procurement Engineer Chris Fan who ran the whole course dressed in a Buzz Lightyear costume, something that he later came to regret when it turned out to be the hotest, muggiest day of September. Even the cooling water spray tent half way around the course offered no respite, instead soaking his costume instead of his skin and making it heavier than ever!
