Marshall Specialist Vehicles

When business goes well, manufacturers find themselves having to expand to meet demand. And when you sign a particularly prestigious contract with the MOD, you know your business is growing fast and that your facilities must too.

When Marshall Specialist Vehicles signed a seven year contract extension to manufacture custom built relief vehicles for the army, they brought in the experts to help with the overhead crane facilities for a new fabrication area. Street CraneXpress’s mechanical handling expertise made them ideal for the challenge of providing the new facilities in a tight schedule of just two weeks.

In order to provide sufficient overhead crane coverage for the new fabrication area, Marshalls required the removal of two existing 5Tonne overhead cranes and their gantries, from one hangar to another, as well as the provision of a new 3.2Tonne crane for the new fabrication area.

Not as simple as just moving the existing cranes, they also required modification in order to position them in their new locations. This meant alteration of the heights as well as the lengths of the existing cranes and gantries, before their re-erection and certification for use in the new hangar.

In addition to these modifications, Marshalls also required a new 3.2Tonne Street Crane for which Street CraneXpress built a complete new gantry.

Street CraneXpress completed the whole job in the tight two week schedule, much to the satisfaction of Marshalls who are now investigating into further expansion, with Street CraneXpress Ltd as first choice for the job.
