Dubai Aluminium

After several successful overseas projects in the Far East, SCX Ltd have now been commissioned to design, manufacture and test a kiln access platform in one of the largest single site aluminium smelters in the western world.

Dubai Aluminium requires a mobile platform that will be used for maintaining and the rebuilding of flue walls of its kilns pits.  The platform will be required to operate in an existing building which has a covered pitched roof and sides.

The electronically operated mobile access platform will contain two working cages which are to be lowered inside the kilns pits and are being designed to carry a safe working even load of 1500kg.

The cradle will also include flexible air conditioning ducts to help cope with the intense temperature inside the kiln pits that can range from 7° C to a staggering 80° C.

The kilns building atmosphere contains high levels of carbon and refractory dust.  Adequate measures need to be taken to protect all parts of the machine from the adverse effects of the kilns building dust.

The system will be manufactured entirely in our workshops and fully tested prior to despatch conforming to BS6037 & BS EN1808.
