Designs for the future
SCX Ltd have taken on three new design engineers to cope with a massive increase in new business. Recent success with an influx of new orders to be fulfilled over the next couple of years means that SCX have had to expand their design capacity to handle all the extra work. These three designers include an experienced CAD engineer from the building access industry, and two graduate engineers from Sheffield’s Universities. Zdenek Vavrda, Daniel Pickard and Jenner Periasamy all joined SCX this Autumn. It is for Street CraneXpress’s “Special Projects” department that Zdenek, Daniel and Jenner will be working. They will be responsible for turning initial concept ideas into designs for practical and efficient working systems, and will be working on a variety of projects such as the new retractable roof for Wimbledon Centre Court and specialist handling systems for Nuclear Power Stations, as well as entirely unique concepts and systems. Zdenek is an experienced CAD engineer from the building access industry. He started his career back home in the Czech Republic and after gaining several years of experience as a CAD Designer and then as a Project Manager for a major manufacturer of building maintenance units, he moved to the UK where he spent the last three years as a Design Engineer for one of SCX’s competitors in the access market. Zdenek’s move to SCX means he will now be working on a variety of the company’s mechanical handling projects. Zdenek said he choose to join SCX “to progress my career with this successful and ambitious engineering company, and to learn from all the knowledgeable and experienced people here”. Jenner graduated this summer from Sheffield University with a Masters in Mechanical Engineering, after completing his degree and 3 years industrial experience in India. Jenner received a Manufacturing Excellence Award for a project while working as a Design Engineer in India. Daniel also graduated this summer, but from Sheffield Hallam University with a BSc in Automotive Technology. As well as his degree and a year’s industry experience, Daniel has an array of practical qualifications including an AVCE in Engineering and a City & Guilds in AutoCad. Zdenek’s wealth of experience should prove him a valuable addition to the team at SCX, whilst Daniel and Jenner’s appointments exemplify SCX’s commitment to the training and development of young talent.
