30 St Mary's Axe

Advances in modern architectural design and construction methods demand a new approach to the design and installation of building facade access and maintenance systems. Ellipses, domes, pyramids and multi-storey towers made of glass, concrete and other composite materials are among the many features of today's architectural landscape that pose a new access design challenge to enhance rather than inhibit modern design.

Recent successful projects augmenting our reputation in the access field include:

  • Two access systems for 30 St Mary's Axe in the centre of London, otherwise known as the 'Gherkin'. Our solution uses many disciplines in 'moving technology' including conductor bar transfers, track transfers and sophisticated control systems.
  • A unique gantry access system for the new Royal Opera House, including a mobile access platform for stage engineering maintenance.

Albion Wharf
  • Albion Wharf - Our solution was to design and manufacture a one-off high tech vertical access gantry mast, capable of traversing along the curved front of the building and matching the convex profile of the structure's facade.
  • An Innovative battery powered telescopic and centre rotating gantry system for cleaning and maintenance of the 7000 square metre domed glasshouse at the Beijing Botanical Gardens in China.
  • Access, maintenance and installation equipment for a large glass panel to seal one end of the stadium at Newcastle Football Ground.
  • Cardinal Place - Located in Victoria, London, a 450,000 sq ft office complex required a roof mounted power trolley complete with telescopic jib and suspended platform traversing on a twin rail system, with a telescopic mast mounted on top of the chassis.
