Berkeley Container Handling

At Berkeley Nuclear Power Station, Street CraneXpress Ltd designed, manufactured and installed a purpose built, semi-automated mechanical handling system for transporting intermediate level waste (ILW) skips into one of four storage locations.

The system has been designed to the most exacting of safety standards and utilises anti-drop stops, side guidance rollers and dual hoist braking systems, ensuring that no single point failure can jeopardise the operational integrity, and is operated from the safety of a remote control station equipped with CCTV.
