History The Group of Companies has developed considerably since it's early beginnings in 1972, and no more so than in recent years. Originally set up to supply the service, repair and spare parts for Street Cranes, the group is still heavily involved in this area, but has also become a leading specialist mechanical handling company. |

| 1972 |
| Keith Eastwood founded the company in 1972 and its first premises were on Clubmill Road, Sheffield. |

| 1978 |
| The premises were soon outgrown and in 1978 moved on to its present site comprising of a purpose built factory and three small offices. |

| 1982 |
| Work steadily increased and in 1982 the factory space was doubled. |
|
| 1985 |
| In 1985, Street CraneXpress purchased Crane & Hoist Ltd who specialised in the supply of hoist units, jib cranes, gantries, slings and other materials handling equipment. |

| 1987 |
| 1987 saw our first foray into a diverse market place when we bought Burnand Components from Aurora Plc. Burnand were originally based on Shoreham Street, Sheffield. |

| 1990 |
| During 1990, Burnand successfully purchased XH Electric, a similar electrical distributor based in Hull and carrying out the same trade as Burnand. Two years later in 1992, a further branch was added in Scunthorpe. |

| 1993 |
| The group was at this time growing but we realised that the missing link was a Technical Department so, in 1993 Intertotal Plc was launched. Run by Andy Whitworth, with a brief to win more technically biased contracts. Intertotal Plc has now become SCX's Special Projects division. |

| 1995 |
| Work steadily increased and we soon outgrew the premises and were left with a dilemma - move or expand on the existing site. In 1995 the adjoining premises were purchased doubling the site area. |

| 1997 |
| Growth soon overtook all of our expectations and in 1997 the decision was made to merge Street CraneXpress, Crane & Hoist and Intertotal. We continued to invest in plant and technology, whilst at the same time endeavouring to train and develop our loyal work force, to ensure that SCX continue to deliver the highest standards of quality. Our commitment to quality and engineering excellence is underlined by our continuing endeavour to work in compliance with and ultimately surpass, the requirements of the BS ISO 9001 standard of quality |

| 2001 |
| In 2001, SCX added an access division manufacturing and maintaining building maintenance units and has successfully completed complex projects such as the Beijing Botanical Gardens and the ‘Swiss Re’ building. |

| 2004 |
| In 2004 a new Street CraneXpress branch was set up in Bristol to cope with increasing workloads and to better serve customers located in the South of the UK. |

| 2005 |
| In December 2005 SCX bought Integral Cradles Ltd, an access company based in London, involved in similar projects as SCX's access division. The Integral Cradles name was kept as the new access division of SCX and meant expansion of the company and a new foothold in the London market. |

| 2006 |
| The group was restructured with SCX as the name for the holding company of 3 subsiduaries: Street CraneXpress, Integral Cradles and Burnand XH. |

| Today |
| The restructure was very successful and at present, Simon Eastwood is continuing the family tradition and has cultivated SCX Ltd to provide a unique combination of mechanical handling services, products and solutions, which can justifiably claim to be the UK’s only ‘true’ supplier of a ‘Total Solution To All Mechanical Handling Problems’. |
